Discover the Plight of Africa's Fastest Predator

Learn about the plight of cheetah at this conservation centre in Paarl and discover how the metapopulation initiative is addressing the significant decline in global cheetah populations and their geographic range over the last century.

Besides a handful of "permanent residents" (due to old age or health problems) all cheetahs at this conservation centre in Paarl are earmarked for release on Game Reserves or National Parks in southern Africa forming the Cheetah Metapopulation. These individuals are either captive-bred cheetahs for genetic reinforcement or wild rescued cats in temporary hold until old or fit enough to go back to the wild. All cheetah relocations take place in coordination with the respective local and international conservation authorities.

This cheetah conservation centre is a not-for-profit organisation and any surplus funds generated are solely used to fund the Cheetah Release and Reintroduction Program. A strict no-touch policy is applied and children under the age of 16 years are not allowed on tour. This is for their own safety as well as the welfare of the animals.

Two unique options are available for this ecotour, a half-day educational tour and a full-day immersive volunteer option. Both tours are available on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays only and require booking confirmation 48-hours prior to the day. Closed on 25th & 26th December.

Note: The times indicated are general times for activities throughout the day. Unfortunately, we cannot offer a tailored schedule for guests as the team and volunteers have a tight daily routine. The times indicated may, therefore, change and will only be confirmed prior to your booking date.

NB: If you or anyone in your party have serious medical conditions or physical impairments, please indicate these in the enquiry form to enable us to make necessary arrangements.
