Our nature-based online and virtual courses offer interactive, expert-led training from our partners, GVI and GVI’s subsidiary Bushwise. Online wildlife courses provided by Bushwise are designed to provide the educational theory needed to pass the Culture, Arts, Tourism, Hospitality, and Sport Sector Education and Training Authority (CATHSSETA) NQF2 certificate exam and gain International Field Guide Association (IFGA) accreditation.

GVI online courses are created in partnership with Richmond School of Professional & Continuing Studies and UNC Charlotte. A digital certificate of completion is awarded on successful completion at no additional cost. All GVI online courses are designed to align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) relating to Planet and People objectives.

This online field guiding course is purely focused on preparing you for your role as a field guide. This includes how to conduct a drive or walking safari, guiding skills and procedures, and most importantly, how to be an ethical field guide.

Wildlife conservation

GVI’s Wildlife Conservation course aims to equip you with the tools needed to achieve this goal by providing an understanding of the fundamental theories used in the field of terrestrial conservation. You’ll gain the skills needed to analyse protected areas, as well as the different methods of wildlife population monitoring such as camera trapping and conducting wildlife censuses.
