YOUR ITINERARY

Days 1-2:

Kasane & Chobe River Front

Your mobile eco-safari begins from Kasane International Airport (FBKE), with your first 2 nights in the Chobe National Park at a riverside tented camp. Kasane is a bustling little town and the meeting point of four countries – Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Namibia. All meals will be prepared in Camp by our chef on an open campfire. Our camp team consists of a guide, chef/cook, and vehicle driver with legal permit.

Wildlife Encounters:

  • The Chobe River forms the northern boundary of the Chobe National Park, renowned for its diverse and abundant game viewing opportunities.
  • Look forward to some exciting activities such as: driving along the game-dotted river banks in a 4WD; cruising along the river in a motorboat, and spotting rare birdlife.
  • This section of the park is best known for its dense concentration of elephant and hippo, but the waters also attract large herds of buffalo and the lions that prey on them.

Days 3-5:

Chobe: Savuti & Khwai

We start day 3 with an early breakfast before loading the 4×4 vehicle and departing on our last game drive in the eastern side of Chobe National Park en-route to Savuti and Khwai where we will spend 3 nights camping.

We’ll select a scenic (but safe) roadside spot for our picnic lunch and arrive at Savuti by late afternoon to find our camp already setup for you to freshen up and relax with drink in hand around the camp fire.

Unforgettable Encounters:

  • The Savuti and Khwai regions are sweeping expanses of Savannah brooded over by several rocky outcrops which guard a relic marsh and the dry channel that was once its lifeline.
  • Besides elephant herds and lion prides, the abundant wildlife include a variety of bird species, antelope, black-backed jackal, bat-eared foxes, Tsessebe, kudu, hyena, cheetah, Cape buffalo herds, and thousands of migrating zebra and wildebeest.
  • The Savuti goes through wet and dry cycles, where wild dogs hunt in the dry river channel and where crocodiles once basked only twenty years ago.

HIGHLIGHTS OF DAYS 3-5

MEET & GREET

We can either collect you and your party at any hotel in Kasane or meet at the Kasane International Airport (FBKE)

RUSTIC MOBILE TENTS

Each well maintained canvass tent is equipped with 2 beds and linen, chairs, table, wash basin, outdoor shower, and private toilet.

AMPLE GAME VIEWING

While being driven between camps you’ll have ample sightings of the abundant wildlife and be educated on interesting facts about species.

Days 6-8:

Moremi Game Reserve to Maun

Following the same camp departure pattern, we will embark on our last Khwai game drive before we continue to our next destination, Moremi game reserve where we spend 2 nights camping. Situated in the east of the Okavango Delta, Moremi ranks as one of the most beautiful reserves in Africa, covering more than 4,871 square kilometres. The varied terrain includes Savannah, winding waterways, and dense forest.

Unwind and Rejuvenate:

  • This diverse ecosystem supports an incredibly wide spectrum of wildlife, including the rare Sitatunga and Lechwe antelope, cheetah and packs of wild dogs in the open grasslands.
  • The birdlife is prolific and includes most of the 550 bird species recorded on Botswana’s national bird list.
  • Moremi is amongst the best game reserves in Africa for viewing the endangered African wild dog.

HIGHLIGHTS OF DAYS 6-8

FREQUENT ENCOUNTERS

Habitats range from wide open floodplains, marshes, lagoons, papyrus fringed channels, vast stands of reeds, mixed woodland and open grassland.

ENDANGERED SPECIES

Moremi is the best reserves for viewing the endangered African wild dog, of which it is estimated that fewer than 7,000 survive in the wild, and only 1,500 of these are adults.

BIRD LIFE

Over 550 bird species are recorded in Botswana, including the lilac-breasted roller, which becomes extremely aggresive when nesting, even driving birds of prey away.

SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IMPACT

While the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are global concerns, and not aimed specifically at the travel and tourism industry, target 8.9 of the 2030 Agenda aims to “by 2030, devise and implement policies to promote sustainable tourism that creates jobs and promotes local culture and products”. In this regard, tourism has the potential to contribute, directly or indirectly to all 17 SDGs.

TRAVEL WITH PURPOSE

For every night you spend in Botswana, you make a difference through the Conservation and Community Levies that are included in our package rates deal. 100% of the levy funds collected are spent on the respective game reserves sustainable tourism projects.

Considering the track history and documented evidence of our partner’s commitments to conservation and community upliftment, Naturecrazi considers their respective SDG “qualifying criteria” as follows:

SDG 1: Creates fixed term and permanent job opportunities for local communities.
SDG 2: Actively engages in community feeding schemes and food growing agricultural projects.
SDG 3: Works with local community health clinics.
SDG 4: Contributes to sustainable local community development through education programs and research.
SDG 6: Provides for careful handling and disposal of solid waste and sewage. Uses alternative, sustainable means of water acquisition and reduces water consumption.
SDG 7: Meets its energy needs through passive design and renewable energy resources.
SDG 12: Sources food ingredients locally, recycles food waste organically, and avoids plastic beverage containers where possible.
SDG 13: Mobile camps and operations have minimal impact on the natural environment.
SDG 15: Conserves and rehabilitates the surrounding flora and fauna. Offers educational interpretive programmes to both its employees and tourists about the surrounding natural and cultural environments.
